Updated information! Learn which games have been included in the SEGA Genesis compilation
In a recent update to the Nintendo Switch Online service, a selection of classic games from the Sega Genesis library has been added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription tier. While the exact newest Sega Genesis games added around August 2025 are not named in the latest sources, it is clear that these games are part of the Nintendo Classics line.
For those who are members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, the library now includes a wider range of games, including titles from the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and Sega Genesis systems. One of the new additions is "Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS", a United States mercenary unit simulation game. Another is "VectorMan", a character-driven action game where players take on the role of Earth's last hope to stop a robot revolution.
"Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS" offers two distinct game modes: the seven-mission Arcade Mode, where the goal is to rescue the former president of the United States, and the eight-mission Original Mode, where the objective is to eliminate a ballistic missile. In "VectorMan", players can choose from five different soldiers, each with unique abilities, to navigate through levels and stop the Orbots, Earth's environmental cleanup drones, who have rebelled.
In addition to these games, Nintendo Switch Online members also have access to a library of games from the Game Boy, Super NES, and NES systems. Online features, Save Data Cloud, and the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app features are available in compatible games.
To access these retro games, a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership is required. Additionally, a Nintendo Account and a separate Nintendo Switch Online membership are necessary. It's worth noting that "ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron", another game available through the service, features an invasion by Earthlings, and the goal is to find all the Earthlings and send them back. The game does not include advertisements.
