V-Color Introduces 2TB RDIMM Kits Compatible with Threadripper Pro 9000 - 256GB Modules Offer Stability at Exceptionally High RAM Capacities
V-Color has announced a new line of OC RDIMM DDR5 products, designed for the AMD Threadripper Pro 9000 WX-series CPUs. These new kits are capable of supporting up to 2TB in an eight-channel configuration.
The new DIMMs come in sizes from 16GB to 256GB per DIMM, with top speeds reaching up to 8200 MT/s for smaller DIMMs, and 6400 MT/s for the largest capacity modules (256GB each). This enables a full 2TB setup across eight channels.
V-Color's OC RDIMMs offer more overclocking headroom and tuning flexibility compared to traditional ECC RDIMMs, targeting professional and AI workloads that benefit from high memory capacity and speed.
In comparison, a similar 2TB eight-channel kit of DDR5 LRDIMMs from NEMIX is currently selling for around $11,599 on Newegg Business. This can be used as a benchmark for the expected price range of V-Color’s new kits.
Market trends suggest general DRAM prices, including DDR5 for servers and clients, are expected to increase moderately in Q3 2025 by 3% to 8%, influenced by supply constraints and demand from AI/server sectors. This could affect the final pricing of high-end DDR5 kits like those from V-Color.
The new RAM was launched last week, coinciding with the public release of the AMD Threadripper Pro 9000 WX-series CPUs. The TRX50 platform, which supports both the Pro and upcoming HEDT chips, offers DDR5-6400 RDIMMs at up to 1TB in four channels and up to 80 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes.
On the other hand, the WRX90 chipset exclusively supports the Pro 9000 chips and offers up to 2TB of DDR5-6400 RDIMMs across eight channels, along with 128 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes.
Kits of the new RAM will come in modules and kits comprising 16GB, 24GB, 32GB, 48GB, 64GB, 96GB, 128GB, and 256GB modules. RGB models of the new RAM are available in the 16GB to 64GB range.
While the exact pricing for these V-Color 2TB kits is not yet disclosed, it is reasonable to expect a price in the ballpark of existing similar capacity kits like NEMIX’s $11,599 product, possibly influenced by the ongoing DRAM price trends affecting Q3 2025.
