VDL Unveils Futura 3 Coach at Busworld Europe 2025
VDL Bus Group has made a splash at Busworld Europe 2025 with the unveiling of the Futura 3 coach. This marks the first joint appearance of VDL and Van Hool since VDL's acquisition of Van Hool in 2024. The Futura 3 aims to reduce fuel consumption and offers improved passenger comfort.
The Futura 3 boasts a redesigned climate control system and can operate using alternative HVO fuel sources. It is designed with passenger comfort in mind, featuring LED lighting and ergonomic seating. The vehicle also offers updated ADAS driver assistance systems, improved sight lines, and structural reinforcements. VDL focused on reducing maintenance costs, with the Futura 3 featuring modular components and improved accessibility to technical systems.
At Busworld Europe, VDL will showcase the Citea 13.5-metre Low Entry vehicle, while Van Hool will highlight the Astron super-high decker and Astromega double-decker vehicles. Both companies will operate independently, each seeking its own distinct identity and market focus.
The Futura 3 coach, with its focus on fuel efficiency, passenger comfort, and reduced maintenance costs, is set to make a significant impact in the bus industry.
