Venture Capital Firm Sigma Capital Unveils $100 Million Investment Fund for fledgling Web3 companies
Sigma Capital, a new crypto investment firm led by Vineet Budki, former CEO and managing partner of Cypher Capital, has announced the launch of a $100 million Web3 fund. The fund aims to invest in early-stage crypto startups, particularly those focused on metaverse projects and blockchain infrastructure, with the goal of driving Web3 innovation in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The fund will be deployed across 100 early-stage projects, 25 liquid tokens, and 10 funds over the next three years. Sigma Capital's strategy is to target opportunities in decentralised finance, blockchain infrastructure, gaming, and real-world asset tokenisation.
In a statement, Budki said, "Our fund equips startups with capital, network, and expertise, helping them adapt in a rapidly evolving landscape."
The UAE, with its clear regulatory framework for digital assets, has emerged as a major crypto hub. Notable crypto companies, such as Binance, OKX, and Coinbase, have received approval from UAE regulators for providing crypto trading services.
Sigma Capital plans to collaborate with crypto hubs in 10 cities and leverage the UAE's strategic position as a growing hub for regulated gaming and digital innovation. This includes initiatives around Ras Al Khaimah's emerging iGaming scene, known as "Ras Vegas."
The company's goal is to drive growth in both the global and GCC Web3 ecosystem. To achieve this, Sigma Capital aims to build a bridge between GCC markets and broader global Web3 networks by supporting startups that can scale regionally and internationally. This integration of the UAE's Web3 ecosystem into the global blockchain and metaverse economy is a key part of Sigma Capital's strategy.
Sigma Capital is operating under regulatory oversight from the Cayman Islands. The fund is designed to help startups adapt in a rapidly evolving landscape and contribute to building the Web3 ecosystem, with particular attention to technology enabling decentralized digital experiences and blockchain-based infrastructure.
In conclusion, Sigma Capital's fund invests in metaverse and blockchain infrastructure projects within the UAE and GCC while collaborating externally through leveraging local regulated market developments, fostering startup scaling, and integrating narratives and utility across global Web3 ecosystems.
