Wizz Air Boosts Safety with Real-Time GPS Interference Detection
Wizz Air, a leading European airline, has bolstered its operational safety by adopting Lufthansa Systems' 'Lido mPilot' navigation solution. This advanced tool features real-time GPS interference detection, helping pilots identify and mitigate GPS jamming and spoofing during flights. The integration comes as global GPS signal disruptions are on the rise, posing challenges to airlines worldwide.
Lido mPilot, along with its companion Lido eRoute Manual, are the first charting applications to incorporate GPS Interference Detection. This innovative feature enables real-time monitoring and mitigation of GPS interference risks. Wizz Air has integrated this crucial enhancement into its Lido mPilot system, further strengthening its operational resilience.
Andreas Medlhammer, Product Owner of Lido Charting Applications at Lufthansa Systems, underscored the importance of timely GPS interference detection. Diarmuid O Conghaile, Chief Operations Officer of Wizz Air, commended the real-time GPS interference identification enhancement. Pilots now receive real-time updates within Lido mPilot, allowing them to recognize and respond to interference events during flights. The solution is powered by GPSwise from SkAI Data Services, which detects spoofing and jamming activity in real time based on live ADS-B data.
Wizz Air's adoption of Lufthansa Systems' Lido mPilot with real-time GPS interference detection underscores its commitment to operational safety and resilience. By leveraging this advanced technology, Wizz Air enhances its pilots' ability to navigate safely, even in the face of increasing GPS signal disruptions. The airline's continued trust in Lufthansa Systems' navigation solutions reflects their strong partnership and shared dedication to aviation safety.
