Hyundai's New HX Series of Hydraulic Excavators Debut with Advanced Features
Hyundai has unveiled a new line of hydraulic excavators, the HX series, designed to meet the demands of modern construction and excavation projects. The latest addition to Hyundai's portfolio is a 14.4-ton heavy-duty excavator, the HX140A L, which is currently being used on a construction site under strict nature conservation guidelines.
The HX140A L comes equipped with a 100 kW power and bucket sizes of 0.5 to 0.7 m³, making it suitable for a variety of tasks. One of the standout features of the HX series is the Intelligent Moving Objects Detection (IMOD) monitoring system, which recognizes and visualizes moving objects around the excavator on the touchscreen. For an even wider view, the Advanced Around View Monitoring (AAVM) system, offering a 360-degree surround view, can be optionally added.
To ensure optimal performance in challenging environments, the HX series features a Stage V engine and numerous new developments in components and operation. The excavator is filled with Panolin hydraulic oil, known for its excellent performance in extreme conditions.
The HX series also boasts several features designed to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The ECO display, Intelligent Power Control (IPC), improved variable power control, and volume flow control for attachments are just a few examples. The excavator's technique for laying supply lines is recognized as an environmentally friendly method by several national parks.
To protect the excavator from corrosive North Sea water, wax bands have been applied to the bolts on the undercarriage. The undercarriage is also equipped with 1400 mm wide special plastic plates, and flooring plates with widths of 600 to 900 mm can be installed for additional protection.
The capacitive touchscreen display on the HX series has been enlarged from seven to eight inches, providing a more user-friendly experience. The HX140A L comes standard with a reversing camera, further enhancing safety and visibility.
Christoffers, a company that operates a fleet of around 25 Hyundai machines, is responsible for providing and maintaining the heavy-duty excavation vehicle HX140A L used on the site. The construction site is conducted under strict nature conservation guidelines, and the HX series' environmentally friendly methods align perfectly with these regulations.
In addition to the standard hydraulic attachments, additional piping is offered for trenching buckets, earth drills, demolition equipment, and other hydraulic attachments, providing flexibility for a wide range of tasks. The HX series also supports horizontal drilling, building casing, and inserting empty pipes into boreholes.
The HX series is deployed daily during low tide and driven back onto a ship via a ramp, demonstrating its versatility and adaptability to various terrain and conditions. With its advanced features, environmental focus, and commitment to safety, the HX series is set to revolutionize the hydraulic excavator market.
