Workshop Arrangement Announced for Interspeech 2025: MLC-SLM Edition
The MLC-SLM Workshop 2025 is set to take place on August 22, 2025, at Dock 14, Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre, Netherlands. This event, focused on advancing multilingual conversational speech AI, aims to address the significant challenge of the scarcity of multilingual, context-rich dialogue data for training large language model (LLM)-based spoken dialogue systems.
As part of Interspeech 2025, the MLC-SLM Workshop is hosted by Nexdata, a company specializing in high-quality training data for AI development. Central to the workshop is the MLC-SLM Challenge, a global initiative promoting innovation in speech language models based on a newly released multilingual conversational dataset.
The event features the announcement of challenge results and awards, with a ceremony highlighting exceptional submissions that have advanced multilingual spoken dialogue models. Keynote speakers include Shinji Watanabe (Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University) and Hung-yi Lee (Professor at National Taiwan University). Invited talks are given by experts such as Ming Li (Duke Kunshan University), Shuai Wang (Nanjing University), and Pan Pan (Director of AI Business, Nexdata).
The MLC-SLM Workshop 2025 serves as a leading forum for collaboration and presentation of state-of-the-art advances in multilingual conversational speech AI. It brings together academic researchers, industry practitioners, and data providers to discuss the future prospects and challenges in building scalable, multilingual, and context-aware speech models.
